SCHOOL SECRETARY

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma/G.E.D.
REPORTS TO

Principal

JOB GOALS

To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office so that the office's maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Performs usual office routines.
  1. Maintains such student records as shall be required.
  1. Receives and routes all incoming calls.
  1. Maintains a daily teacher attendance log, and the concomitant records for substitute teachers.
  1. Rings the bell that signals school opening, class-changing time, and school closing.
  1. Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials as requested.
  1. Processes all changes and adjustments in student schedules after the second week of the school year.
  1. Maintains a log of visitors to the school.
  1. Composes or transcribes correspondence, bulletins, and memorandum from rough drafts.
  1. Prepares communication using various types of office equipment.
  1. Disburses funds, records financial transactions, and audits and balances student organization and other school fund accounts.
  1. Performs other duties as requested.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 40 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:
  1. Physical movement is required.

WORK CONDITIONS

Normal working environment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Eleven month work year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

EVALUATION

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
