Join Our Team as a Pre-Transplant Coordinator!

Are you a passionate registered nurse looking to make a significant impact in the world of transplantation? At Houston Methodist , we are seeking a dedicated Pre-Transplant Coordinator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in facilitating and coordinating all aspects of the transplant process, from referral to evaluation, waiting period, and peri-operative phases. You’ll have the opportunity to grow your skills while working alongside experienced Transplant Coordinators and management.

Your Responsibilities

As a Pre-Transplant Coordinator, you will:

  • Communicate Effectively: Use therapeutic communication to engage with patients, families, and the transplant team, ensuring everyone is informed and supported.
  • Assess Needs: Identify and respond to the clinical, psychosocial, and economic needs of transplant patients and their families.
  • Coordinate Evaluations: Work with an interprofessional team to manage the evaluation process for potential transplant candidates.
  • Educate Patients: Establish educational goals with patients and families, guiding them through the transplant process and available options.
  • Monitor Progress: Recognize potential issues during the waiting phase and coordinate necessary care, ensuring patients are well-informed throughout.
  • Participate in Events: Engage in transplant events and contribute to departmental goals for patient satisfaction.

What We’re Looking For

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Experience: Four years of nursing experience or three years of Oncology/BMT-specific experience. Previous transplant acute care and/or ICU experience is preferred.
  • Licenses: RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure or Compact State Licensure within 60 days, and BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA).
