Job Description
Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking an Industrial Painter to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. This role involves surface preparation, coating applications, and equipment maintenance in an industrial environment. Candidates must demonstrate strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and the ability to deliver quality finishes with minimal rework.
Pay: $25?$30/hr DOE
Schedule: Monday?Friday, Day Shift (5:00am?1:30pm). Overtime and some weekends as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Adhere to all safety policies: wear PPE, attend safety meetings, and report unsafe conditions immediately
Maintain punctuality and professionalism; communicate absences or appointments in advance
Prepare surfaces by sanding, scraping, caulking, filling, or pressure washing as needed
Apply masking to protect adjacent surfaces from overspray or drips
Mix and match paints/coatings according to specifications and data sheets
Apply primer, paint, and specialty coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment
Ensure proper film thickness (WFT/DFT) and monitor drying times for quality finish
Clean and maintain painting equipment; perform preventative maintenance checks
Accurately track work progress, rework rates, and ensure projects are completed correctly the first time
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals
Requirements
3+ years of industrial painting experience
Proven industrial painting experience, including spray application
Ability to coat 1,000 sq. ft. in 1 hour with less than 2% rework
Knowledge of airless spray tips, mixing ratios, and paint equipment setup/teardown
Familiarity with Plural Machine operation and maintenance
Ability to identify coating defects and correct them properly
Capable of calculating required wet film thickness (WFT) to achieve desired dry film thickness (DFT)
Must provide own basic hand tools (wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, hammer, scraper, channel locks, etc.)
Must pass pre-employment screening and be at least 18 years of age
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with industrial coatings beyond standard paints
Familiarity with preventative maintenance on pumps, hoses, and spray guns
Strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulations for coating applications
