Job Title: Director of Finance

JANSON is hiring a Director of Finance . This is a full-time position at the JANSON Headquarters office in Fairfax, VA.

This individual will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance with government regulations (including those relevant to woman-owned and small business certifications), and supporting financial strategic decision-making. This role is both hands-on and strategic, combining financial planning with operational excellence to support growth. The ideal candidate will possess a balanced blend of strategic thinking, planning, and analytical capabilities to contribute to customer program execution, business growth and operational excellence.

Start: Immediately

Clearance: Secret (Must be Clearable)

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 3-5 years

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
• 8+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally within a small business, government contracting, or professional services environment.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of Unanet and its implementation
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial planning, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with government contracts and small business certifications a strong plus.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and values-driven environment.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Financial Strategy & Leadership

• Partner with the CEO to develop and execute financial strategies that align with company goals.
• Provide data-driven insights to guide decision-making, investments, and business expansion.
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.

Accounting & Reporting

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, payroll, and month-end/year-end close.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
• Manage audits, tax filings, and reporting for government contracts and certifications

Compliance & Risk Management

• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Oversee internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Monitor cash flow, credit, and capital structures to mitigate financial risk.

·Government Contracting & Certifications

• Ensure compliance with requirements tied to small business and woman-owned certifications.
• Support financial reporting for government contracts, grants, and funding opportunities.

Team Development & Collaboration

• Build and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (operations, HR, sales) to align financial planning with organizational goals.
