About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Buyer I to join our Procurement team within the Supply Chain department. Reporting to the Associate Director of Supply Chain, you will be responsible for purchasing goods and services to support company operations. You will work closely with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and the procurement team to ensure timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and quality, contributing to the smooth operation of our innovative biotech initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Process purchase orders accurately and assist in purchasing goods and services based on company needs and inventory levels.
• Ensure timely delivery of items by monitoring order statuses and maintaining effective communication with suppliers.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, ensuring favorable pricing and quality standards, and support the negotiation of purchase orders and contracts when necessary.
• Track deliveries to ensure orders are completed accurately and on time, maintaining records of purchases, pricing, and delivery information.
• Monitor inventory levels, alert senior team members of potential stock shortages or overages, and help ensure effective and efficient inventory rotation.
• Assist in ensuring that purchased items meet company quality standards and specifications.
• Support the creation and maintenance of purchase reports, as well as assist with preparing forecasts and analyzing spending trends.
• Collaborate with departments such as logistics, finance, and warehouse teams to streamline the purchasing process.
Requirements:
• High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or a related field preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to receive and understand instructions regarding duties.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to the team’s success in delivering business targets.
• Basic understanding of procurement and supply chain processes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards in the biotech industry.
• Team player who takes responsibility for decisions and outcomes.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with ERP systems and procurement software.
Compensation (USD): $20/hr-$25/hr
• This role offers a competitive pay based on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include health insurance, retirement plans, and opportunities for professional development. (Note: Salary range is estimated based on typical Buyer I roles; adjust as needed.)
Location Policy:
This position is based at our headquarters in San Diego, California, with flexibility for occasional remote work as needed.
Work Environment / Physical Demands:
• Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods.
• Must be able to communicate efficiently and effectively on the phone or in person and complete required paperwork.
• Work extended or off hours depending on the company’s needs (including weekends and holidays), as required.
