H&K Group, Inc. ’s Locust Ridge Quarry is searching for a highly motivated Assistant Quarry Superintendent to join their materials division! The Assistant Quarry Superintendent is responsible for the safe and efficient production of materials on site. The ideal candidate is safety focused, pays attention to detail, and excels at teamwork.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

• Performs all work according to MSHA and H&K Safety policies
• Government
  • Interact professionally with DEP and MSHA inspectors
  • Ensure site is compliant with MSHA, EPA, and DEP regulations and township requirements
• Personnel/Administration
  • Build team through mentoring, training, and disciplining
  • Report employee progress to Supervisor
  • Assign daily work and assist with setup
  • Provide employees with proper tools and equipment to complete work to H&K standards
  • Create a positive work environment
  • Lead weekly safety meetings and daily huddles
  • Complete all required paperwork and submit in a timely manner
  • Attend all necessary meetings
  • Ensure site is free of any materials that would create a hostile work environment or violate any company policy
  • Ensure proper training is completed by all employees (MSHA and task training)
  • Communicate regularly with Superintendent
• Production
  • Maximize plant & employees for production at lowest total delivered cost
  • Schedule blasting, drilling, and coordinate stripping in superintendent’s absences
  • Ensure product is within proper specs and quality
  • Identify, prioritize, and schedule maintenance needs
  • Order parts for plant
• Marketing and Sales
  • HK Group liaison to community, customers, and other companies in superintendent’s absence
• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

• Five years related experience and/or training
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered
• Driver’s license and clean driving record
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Basic computer skills including internet and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

  Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution
• Experience in a quarry, open pit mine, heavy civil/road construction, or other heavy industry
• CDL A or B
• MSHA and/or other applicable safety certifications and training
